I really hate most jrock "fans". Particularly visual kei "fans". I'm tired of them citing Dir en grey as a major influence on every other band under the sun, just because the band happens to sing in fucking Japanese. I'm also constantly agitated by the assertions that the Gazette is the next biggest, most influential band in the visual rock scene

If looking at the picture alone, I can almost see what they might be talking about, if you go by really purely visuals. Little bits here and there that I suppose could be used to compare them but... shouldn't? Like, Uruha aaalways has his hair flipped out, and "OMG lookit that guy! He has his hair flipped out too!" That kinda thing.

But I do hate how everyone feels the need to compare everything though. And most of it by visuals only too. I mean, yeah, they're visual bands, so visuals are important. But more than anything, they're a band. Even without the visuals, they'd still be a band, and that's the important part. Without the band, they'd just be a bunch of guys dressed in funny clothes. ~____~;; And even if their sound has similarities, I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal... Sure, they could be influenced by Dir en grey. Dir en grey is a huge band afterall, and everyone knows them. But I don't think it's needed to have that be the definition of a new band just because they might sound slightly similar. Lots of people take influences from lots of places. Some of them really visible influences too, but no one talks about anything else. I mean, no one pulls out Bach and go, "Eeeeverything is influenced by Bach because he set up the basic structure of music". But that's what my music teacher said the other day, and I'm more inclined to believe that rather than "OMG everything's influenced by Dir en grey". It's just that that's all j-rock fangirls know about and that's all they could talk about.

I'm generally not very critically about my music, so I don't hate a lot, but still, the music aspect is important. I wouldn't say that OMG I'm a huge ___ fan!!! if I don't even like their music and only like their look.

And I'd be interested in who makes your 6 good vocalists list. Haha~

I agree with pretty much the entirety of your second paragraph. I hate how people zero in on looks and dismiss bands for such trivial things as not being pretty enough, or more original looking etc. I mean, I thought the whole point of being a fan of a band implied enjoying their music. But obviously I'm so in the wrong here.
