[Luffy didn't say anything else for quite a while. He knew he couldn't do anything else. And it wasn't like home. Just because Chopper wasn't waking up didn't mean he wouldn't speak to him ever again. It'd just be for a while.

That didn't help how it felt, though.]

[So he already knew that people could come back after they died. That had to help a little. Though Luffy had no idea how he'd suffered, this too was probably for the best. He seemed have gone peacefully in his sleep. That was the most positive outcome.

He set a firm hand on Luffy's shoulder and gave him a reassuring squeeze. It still wasn't easy, wasn't easy at all. Hell, he felt like his heart was being twisted and wrenched in a cold grip, and this wasn't even one of his crew. But it was his brother's Nakama, and feeling Luffy's pain... seeing him like that... It hurt all the same. He had been fond of the little guy too. So selfless...innocent.

He swallowed hard and bit back the tears. He had to be strong, no more crying, he'd mourned days before. Chopper wouldn't want him to be in any more pain than he already was. He was still speechless, searching for the right thing to say.]
