[SCREAMING AND CLINGING TO CAPTAIN'S FACE]

[GEDDOFF MY FACE! Luffy frees up an eye and stares.]

IT'S ONE OF THOSE GUYS! [Points.]

YOU! Over there, with the gun! STOP SHOOTING!

[ It's the one with the blue eyes, not that he's close enough to see that. There's a split second pause.

Then he takes aim and fires at the bigger one. ]

[He tenses up as he hears the gunshot again and just yells, getting a strong grip of the side of Luffy's head, mainly sitting on one of his shoulders.]

LUFFY, RUN! RUN RUN RUN!!

[And he takes the bullet, but it... bounces off his rubber skin. Just barely. But the force did knock him back, and he stumbles, hands forming fists as the bullet falls to the floor.]

THAT HURT, YOU BASTARD!

[Ohhh yeah, Luffy's totally going to try and fight him. He definitely just came unarmed to a gunfight.]

[ Huh. That's weird. He's kind of curious about this now.

Two more shots in rapid succession! One aimed at the neck or shoulder, the other at the head. ]

[Chopper's position on Luffy's shoulder changes as the second shot hits him and he yelps, jerking his head toward their attacker and yelling again.]

Luffy, I said run--

[He suddenly tenses up, seeing the gun raised again and the second his ears twitch, he knows the shots are coming again so he just shoves as hard as he can, hoping to get Luffy to the ground quick enough before the bullets hit him and he makes it.

Except there's a sudden pain in his left arm as one of the bullets graze him and Chopper cries out in pain.]

Not gonna--

[An instant protest, but he wasn't expecting the two bullets. The sudden shove had Luffy jolting, taking one in the shoulder and--surprisingly enough--not taking the other...?

He gasps at Chopper's cry. And by the blood his eyes spot, he knows Chopper's been hit.

Luffy just reaches up a hand to hopefully block Chopper from any more hits.]

I SAID STOP SHOOTING!

[ The soldier briefly lowers his gun... to reload. ]

[He's clutching his injured arm for a moment and trying his best to sit up, scrambling to tug Luffy away and hoax him into running like they really most definitely should be doing.]

LUFFY YOU IDIOT, RUN!

[Not... even going to risk it. Luffy hates this so much but there's no way he can take this guy on.

[ The moment Ace taps him on the shoulder, he turns around and shoots him. Point blank. ]

{Taking that shot like a boss, it appears to go right through him and hurts like a bitch. He's continuing to follow through with that knife, it's going in your throat whether you like it or not pal. He's taking you out one way or the other.

Biting through the pain for now, he's gotto finish this. He'll worry about himself in a minute. But if anyone's watching, they can see that bullet wound slowly but surely sealing with what looks like weak flames.}

[ The moment after he fires, he begins backing up: he sees that knife there and wants nothing to do with it. He fires again, figuring he missed, as he continues to try and clear space between them. ]
