Stupid death

Alright today i saw some strange stuff. If anyone has seen the works of Jack Chick, it was his works. Now unlike other sites that might be parodies this is honestly what he believes. That is chill... untill i started to read the part about how he HAD to convert me or i would DIE and SUFFER FOREVER. This got me thinking, what was Jesus really intending when he(granted he existed), came up with this stuff? Was it for personal glory?(ie did he want to be some powerful and influenial leader?). Was it just to help people out by laying out some ground rules that he thought were good? Or did he honestly believe that he was the son of God and the only one that could save everyones souls. This type of questionare also applies to other founders of religions and writers of ancient laws. I would love to know HOW certain folk lore originated. As all fairy tales have a moral tied with them and the moral is what should be paid attention to, were the folk lore intended in such a way? Or were they rather more for entertainment? or was it actual history that through mistranslation and peversion got fantasiced?(such as the theory of atlantis might have just been a volcano).

Another thing is meeting with dead inventors and the like. How did they come up with their ideas? did they actually have help? The dead carry so many secrets with them. So many that i wish atleast a fraction would be answered. like the battle of Troy, what REALLY happen? King Solomon what was he REALLY like? What was like to live with true samurais and ronin? Because these are in the past and for the majority there are mixed accounts of the happenings or distored accounts, the actual truth may never be known...but i really want to know. SO for anyone who managed to read through all that, have any input or sites that would provide input to any of these(especially origins of lore).
