I should be ashamed: I'm a great fan of Alan Moore's 'V for Vendetta' graphic novel and only now I heard of 'Watchmen'. And only because of PS3 game called 'Watchmen: The End is Nigh'. I immediately watched the film but like 'V for Vendetta' movie doesn't reflect original source in its full beauty, I have a feeling 'Watchmen' movie is far from the graphic novel, even though I like both films.
I remember the days I was reading 'V for Vendetta'. I heard about it only because Wachowski brothers were making this film and I decided to find the graphic novel to know what it was all about. I never enjoyed comic books and even though graphic novel is a different thing, to my surprise it was beyond awesome. With one of the reasons being V not a superhero, he is an ordinary man with stronger body and crippled past. The idea of 'Watchmen' looks more American and yet Moore adds his own unique touch on that. People in masks defending city from the scum? But only if that was as funny as it sounded. I have mixed impressions from the movie, I'm searching for the novel to say something more concrete. What I can say is that Rorschach is one of my favorite characters now among V, Psycho Mantis, Hitman and The Exile from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Crippled past, nice outfit, sociopath tendencies - just exactly what I like in people ;)
