The Amazing Race: Shanghai

May 02, 2010 22:45

I saw part of an episode of The Amazing Race this evening; it took place in Shanghai, so I kept watching. The most appealing pair was two cowboys. When they reached the day's final checkpoint and Bao Xishun greeted them with "welcome to Shanghai," one responded, "thanks for having us!"

Another funny moment came when a person was trying to tell a taxi driver to go to 滨江大道 (Pinyin: Bīnjiāng Dà Dào). Naturally, his pronunciation was awful, yet when the driver failed to understand, he muttered, "these people don't even understand their own language!"

All throughout, I couldn't help but imagine the tremendous amusement the filming must have produced for all the Chinese people who happened upon it.
