Chinese sledding words

This past week I learned that many Chinese are highly unfamiliar with sledding. Whereas an American would recognize a Flexible Flyer instantly, my Chinese friends usually asked, "what is that?" But thanks to Xiaohuan, who's from Inner Mongolia and had his own sled as a kid, I learned the following words:
雪橇 -- sled (n.) Search for 雪橇 on Google Images and you'll get some cute pictures of sled dogs.
滑雪 -- sled (v.) Same verb as skiing. Same 滑 that's used in 滑冰 (ice skating). This is similar to Russian, which uses the verb кататься for skiing (кататься на лыжах), sledding (кататься на санках), and skating (кататься на коньках).

I also taught my neighbor Lulu the word "icicle" and she told me the Chinese word: 冰柱.

russian, sledding, chinese
