Today I learned that the Chinese word "最近," meaning (in one context) "recently," actually refers to the recent past, the present and the near future. So if you hear a Chinese person use "recently" with the future tense in English, now you know one possible reason for that.

In other linguistic amusement news, there is a guy in one of my classes with the last name "Durak." I don't think that he is Russian (or if he is, his family is a bunch of fools).
