Easter weekend + Pskovichi

Apr 16, 2006 11:56

I came home on Friday for dinner with Елизавета Петровна, her husband, and Анна Александровна, who is a dean at the university in Pskov. On Saturday morning, there was an egg hunt with the students from Pskov at the house of one of the host families. The Pskovichi were nice, though one of the boys is very cocky to the point of being kind of a jerk (I heard stories). The TJ students were also nice, though one boy was criticizing the TJ Russian program and saying that they do "nothing." Actually, it sounded more like he is an indolent whiner.

Anyway, it was certainly worth coming home this weekend to see them. One of the girls from Pskov had a present for me from my friend Natasha, too.

I went out on the bike trail both Friday and Saturday. Yesterday I rode for about an hour and a half. It was really nice, and good exercise, of course.

And today is Easter! Hooray! He is risen!

At church this morning, there was a little girl named Keira whose father is American and mother is Taiwanese. Keira is very cute, and I played with her a little. From talking to her father, it sounds like they speak English at home, but one of the grandmothers in Taiwan sent them some kind of "learn Chinese" video that Keira loves. Her dad says she calls dogs "马".

And lastly, a co-founder of Greenpeace, with an editorial in the Post promoting nuclear energy! Read it if you're interested in the issue; he attacks the common myths.
