For him I've chosen "Ultraviolet" as my first choice, because it focuses on synesthesia which I've always been HUGELY fascinated by - in no small part because I have a very mild case of it myself.

My second choice is "Battle Royale". It's hard reading, but an interesting book... even if I do think Hunger Games handles the topic better.

I think kiwiria has a great pick for you with Ultraviolet. It's a quirky read, and I loved the foreshadowing put into place. Of course, you could choose to read Battle Royale, and I could read your review of that and add it to my reading list.
