Thanks for the input, Malcolm.
Little Briscoe has been to the vet nearly weekly since my daughter got him. He had ear mites, a terrible respiratory infection, an infected eye, and demodectic mange--which is very rare in cats, but it is an indication of his malnutrition. Fiyero suffers from mange, too, and he had an abcess in his ear along with the ear mites. He had the respiratory infection, too, but not as bad as Fiyero. He still sneezes and wheezes, but he doesn't have all the discharge and major coughing fits as Briscoe. I'm wondering if Briscoe's tongue is due to his breathing problems. He has been through two regiments of antibiotics, and the vet says it will just take time for him to recover. He is taking medication and supplements to improve his health. Bojoette has spent a small fortune on those two--about a thousand dollars! That's a lot of money for a young girl starting out, especially with school loans. We helped her a tiny bit with the mange treatments, but she is handling most of it on her own. Those kitties are very lucky!
This new year promises to be an exceptional one for you and Paola. May it be filled to overflowing with wonderful times that leave lasting memories.
