Stating the obvious, I am a Democrat, a proud and loyal Democrat. This election in the coming year is already proving to be a difficult decision in choosing who I like or represents my views the best. So far, I adore the top 3 running Democrats, which makes it so hard to choose.
Likes
Clinton: she has attitude, and the experience to back it up.
Obama: charismatic and fresh.
Edwards: down to earth and charming.
Dislikes
Clinton: not straightforward/forthcoming enough.
Obama: not experienced enough.
Edwards: no new ideas.
I know the primaries are a long way away and a lot can happen in that time, so deciding right now is a little hasty and reckless. Now of course if you are already set in your decision, more power to you, as for me, I would like to see what they have to say more. There are more Democrats in the race than I mention, all of whom I'm sure are great people, but I am not familiar with them and I want to build on what I do know already about Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. In the 2004 primaries I voted for Edwards because I thought he was the best at representing my views. This time, while I still am a big supporter of him, I am seeing who else is out there. Clinton knows her shit, no doubt about it, but perhaps knows it too much for her own good. I want to like her, but there is something about her that is holding me back. Perhaps she can change my mind, time will tell. Obama is a marvelous speaker and intelligent, I am very interested in everything he says, even if I don't like it. He is just that intriguing. He is fresh, which is why I am attracted to him, and no not in the physical sense. Sadly, he is really not all the experienced. He has mostly been involved in local & state politics, and only a few years in the U.S senate. Perhaps he will change my mind about his inexperience, only time will tell. As for Edwards, he is still very like-able, approachable, and down to earth. However, from what I have seen he doesn't really have anything new to offer that he didn't already say in 2004. That isn't necessarily bad considering I liked what he had to say in 2004. But times change, so you have to change with them. Perhaps he will change my mind about that, only time will tell. It's proving to be exciting!
