Since I got done with registering for classes on Thursday, that left Friday open for a bit of exploring. I decided to familiarize myself with the campus (called the "Uni" here) since the tour the day before hadn't been too thorough. It is much smaller than UW, but is still located in the middle of the city. One odd thing is that it feels very residential within the Uni precinct.
these are some of the English department buildings, and are converted Victorian houses, all connected by a hallway in back.
this is the street leading into the Uni from one of the main streets (Park St.) and is lined with more old buildings (geology dept I think)
this is called Wills Memorial. I don't know who Will is, but it's a popular meeting place for students, and stands out over the whole area, since there aren't really any sky-scrapers in Bristol. The inside of the ceiling looks like:
Hopefully this coming week (I don't have class, since the English dept. doesn't start until the week after) I will have a chance to see more of Bristol, since a few of the other study abroad students I've met are English majors as well, so I think we're planning on doing some sight-seeing.
