I made it through the last day of this week fairly unscathed. We had the International Clubhouse faculty here all week to assess whether we are worthy of continuing our membership. This visit turned out to be extremely positive. I had several conversations with the certifiers, members and staff about the positive experience had by all, which was a needed distraction from the day of doom on Tuesday. We were given 4 recommendations to work on in comparison to the 10 from our last visit. Medications in the clubhouse is the only issue that we will not budge on. The other recommendations are issues that we were already aware of and have been making efforts through house and department meetings to rectify. The faculty told our internal committee off the record that they were impressed with Health Services and it's holistic approach to mental and physical health and believe that it works quite well for our clubhouse. We were told that the clubhouse community is excited about our membership and sees Yahara House as a growing leader in the movement. There are several bets running on what the final decision will be. I'm optimistic that we will be receiving the 3 year certification.
I had my second date with Rey last night. We hung out here. He brought me flowers and a bottle of wine. I let him know how much I appreciated this through audible giddiness, smiles, kisses and hugs. These genuine demonstrations of thoughtfulness and kindness are awakening optimism in my increasingly pessimistic mind. It's good to know that there is still a little Mary Poppins alive and skipping along the dreamer's path in my head.
I picked up "Home at the End of the World" which was promising in the beginning, but fizzled to ridiculousness about midway through the story. It was easy pickins for a couple of bantering queens equipped with a bottle of wine and pizza. I rented "A Star is Born" as well, but we never got to that one. We were too busy rolling around on the floor to watch the second feature. I was pleased to see that he knew about this movie and didn't seem to have any macho hang ups about watching musicals or "chick flicks". These are important facts in his favor. I have no patience for that kind of bullshit.
Today I'm heading to the Princess Club to try out Pilates with Rey. This has been on my to do list for several months and now it is finally happening. Yay me! All I needed was a partner in crime to make it happen.
