Best thing to do is look at the spec of a basic Dell system, and copy that spec, but with more memory and improved graphics card. :D

And a decent motherboard. Dell hasn't shipped a decent board in over a decade.

If you're referring to the ones in the GX270s that kept on blowing up their caps, I'd have to agree. The amount of man hours wasted calling them for service replacements where I work was unfunny.

Not just that, Dell is known for using hardware that isn't what they advertised it to be, which IS a problem when you go to run a new OS on it.

Ehh, I tried the dell website. FAIL.
Can't find anyplace where it will talk about the component chioces without using marketing buzzwords, IE, nothing that tells me what crap actually DOES. And their system configuration options just aren't flexible enough to let me put in what I want without throwing in a chunk of shit I don't.

I plan to price various components from other retailers, building my own box is more fun anyway. But first, I need some suggestions.

If you need someone to help you out catching up on what's out there, Pacific Solutions on SE Powell's really knowledgable, and their prebuilt systems have more bang for the buck than Dell. Something to keep in mind.
