Mable Boesel died 10 years ago. A wonderful lady indeed.
Today, she would have turned 100
she was my grandmother (mother side)
A couple of quick info about her
every now and then she would go to Costa Rica with her sister-in-law (My Great Aunt Rita, may she r.i.p)
They would visit Rita's sister who was a sister.(Nun)
I remember when Grandma would come back from Central America, she would have these nice trinkets, wallets and stuff, but she never remembered how she got the stuff. Found out later that those three ladies were partaking in communion more than they should.
I was told this next story from my Aunt Kathy, Grandma's youngest daughter...
My dad first visit to grandma's farm. My Uncle Howard and my dad went to town and did some bar hopping.
When they got back to the farm, my dad was drunk as a skunk. Now he knew that if he ever came back to HIS mother, he would be yelled at because his mother thought drinking was a sin.
So my dad went to his new mother-in-law and begged for forgivness for his drunkeness. He cried that he had went out bar hopping with Howard.
My grandmother would sit up straight in her chair, look dad sternly in the eye and scolled him
"HOW DARE YOU DISHONOR ME WITH THIS. mY TWO SON-IN-LAWS GOING AROUND TOWN DRUNK AND DISORDERLY.
AND YOU DID IT WITHOUT ME!!!!!!!
NOW HERE IS MY GLASS. Put some brandy in it now."
True story.
And finally,
My cousin Lori was driving my brother Bill, myself and Grandma around Sheboygan.
She was getting confused with direction. so she asked which way to turn at the next intersection.
I said left
Lori would reply "Left?"
Bill "right."
Lori "Right?"
Bob "no, left."
Lori "Left?"
Bill "right."
Lori "Right?
Bob "no, Left."
this would repeat for a few more second until my grandmother would left up her cane and threaten to hit each of us with it if we did not knock it off.
Happy Birthday Grandma
