Baja Memories...

So I already posted about the first day in baja, so here is the rest...

The second day we were in Baja Miles' uncle had to leave so we drove him to the airport. I didn't mind because I already had to stay in the shade because of the sunburn on my legs. It's funny, you can go from EcoMundo to Loreto perfectly fine, but on the way back there is a military check point where you have to get out of the car and let them search it and the trunk. Kinda scary when you think you can't speak the language fluently and some of them have rather large guns. I kinda feel bad for the military guys... sitting outside in 100+ degree heat in their outfits... yeah, I'd call that hot. Then we played Yahtzee and attempted to memorize a few lines. The rest of the day we just sat around and enjoyed the sunset.

On Sunday Miles went out and snorkeled a bit (with a shirt on because of the burns on his back). We didn't really do much except for sit around because of the heat and stuff. I now understand the gulls in Finding Nemo though, because they really do seem to say "mine" and that's all. They don't seem to ever sleep either. Then Miles and I cooked our own dinner. I had a freak out because a scorpion ran through the kitchen while we were cooking. Scary stuff. Then his dad came back with Tracy and we all went night night.

Monday we hung around and read a lot. Miles and his dad went out with the hawaiian sling and tried to get some fish with that while Tracy and I played yahtzee. Once EcoMundo closed we went into Mulege and shopped. It's interesting trying to shop with dollars when everything is in pesos. I bought two sarongs, a shot glass, a t-shirt, a tiny turtle for my friend Jody, and a gel candle. Then we ate dinner (nothing better than lobster caught that day)! Then later that night we went for a moonlight paddle. The bioluminecent algae was cool because it lit up when you agitated it. So it looked like sparks coming off the paddles. Miles, his dad, and Tracy all jumped in and it then looked like they were phoenixes coming out of the water. It was cool.

Our last full day in Baja Miles and I went out on another paddle and he actually got me to snorkel. This was followed by Miles going out with a spear gun and spearing a red snapper. He then ate it later for dinner. The beautiful sunsets/sunrise, moon, water, etc. are going to be missed by all. But I'm glad I went, and I enjoyed every minute of it (even when I was having scorpion freak outs and such)!
