Things I've learned in the past few days:
That "You know what? Shut up!" is not a viable debate tactic and actually reveals how silly I am at heart.
That Robert Graves was an extremely influential poet in this century, not just for his work in mythology but also for his own poetry and just general Robert Graves-ness.
That Bok Choy, when chopped and cooked as a green vegetable, tastes very much like turnip greens.
That I become excessively frustrated when I cannot identify a bird withing 60 seconds.
That some people, who are otherwise very sane and knowledgeable, actually enjoy tent camping.
That Laura Riding was Jewish.
That W.S. Merwin, a favorite of mine, won the Pulitzer and refused it, perhaps out of a slightly misguided political feeling (that is, the feeling was okay, of course, but it was misapplied).
That I don't really like peas.
That making new friends is hard but not impossible.
That Yeats is probably my favorite poet.
That Herodotus is actually kind of fun.
Nothing earth-shaking or philosophical, just the odd lot stuff that one picks up here and there as one thought leads to another in that mess we call our minds.
