Oh, big excitement...decided to get new coffee maker. Last 3 coffee makers have cost about $30 per. El cheapo, eh? This time I decided to do a bit of research to see what's what...decided to go with a Cuisinart at about $75 on Amazon...usually at Macy's about $110. So was pleased to find this and looked at all customer reviews to see who liked it or not and why...the only 2 complaints, which were from satisfied customers, were that one cannot see inside the coffee maker to measure the water (since I always use the carafe to measure, w. c.?) and that the opening into which one puts the water is a bit small (since I am currently using a really inadequate West Bend mess that's about 8 years old, again, w. c.?) A friend told me to get a Bunn, but there is no Bunn which is preprogrammable, so I didn't get that. Figure anything is better than what I'm using now. Was pleased to spend what seems to me to be a lot for a small appliance.
On the other hand, I visited a very gadget-happy person this week-end, and she had just purchased a Dyson vaccuum cleaner to the tune of about $450, which seems right out of the ballpark to me. Of course, I still can remember, however vaguely, the percolater on the stove and the impossible-to-carry-upstairs old chrome vac. that my mom used. Times do change, and sometimes for the better.
