Went to a friend's CD release party Friday night at the Kitty Kat club in Dinkytown. Stayed outside the club talking until 2:30.
Car got towed from the lot. They start towing at 2:30 on the dot, evidently. Had to pay to the tune of $225 to get it out of the impound lot. I'm just glad I was with my friend Josh, who thought of it as "an adventure" (yea..he's not out over $200..ouch) and kept making up little songs, gave me hugs, and made me laugh. Thank goodness I got my tax refund check last week. Went to work Saturday beyond exhausted. I could fester over the incident, but I choose to realize things could always be worse. Am I in a hospital? No. Am I in jail? No. No so bad, then.
Things to look forward to:
Possibly taking a road trip to Chicago to see Peter Murphy. Staying at my friend Domingo's place in Chicago. He's a dead ringer for Johnny Depp. A Mexican Johnny Depp. His accent is so think I can barely understand him, but it really doesn't matter. Talk is overrated.
Flying to Las Vegas in April to attend a HUGE annual rockabilly convention there. I was torn between going to Leipzig, Germany for the Goth-Treffen festival but American music and the tackiness that is Vegas won out. Besides being much less expensive, I'll be going with my German (ironic, huh?) friend who's just a joy to be around.
This has been the most difficult winter of my life. I'll be thrilled when I don't have to brace myself from the cold every time I step outside.
Cleaning out my desk drawers yesterday, I came across a note a friend had written. He's long gone - moved to Albany, NY with his partner years ago (sadly, pre-Facebook days)
I see you.

It was very sweet to stumble across that. It was dated July 31, 2002! The years are flying by at an overwhelming speed. I want to do so much more with my life. I want to live up to that note, damn it! I want my mojo back!! *Stamps foot*
p.s. As with most of my LJ friends, sadly, I rarely write in LJ anymore. It's all about the sound bites and photos on Facebook now. If anyone who isn't on my FB wants to add me, please do so! Emily Hooper (Minneapolis) or
