After reading a lot of articles and watching video clips, I was totally convinced that Melania Trump DID steal Michelle Obama's speech, blantantly and outrageously. However, after actually looking at the speeches side by side, I don't think she did. There seemed to be soooo many cases of identical word usage, but when you look at both speeches in

Yeah, I'd seen that, and it's in the link I provided, too. Obviously that part is way too similar.....but the speeches themselves were very different. That's what I mean - I'd gotten the impression she'd copied a good deal of the speech, but it was only a couple of phrases, like they said. When you look at the speeches in their entirety, it looks very different than just comparing those two passages. I do think she probably looked at Michelle's speech to get an idea of the kind of thing she was supposed to say, and included those things not realizing how scrutinized she would be.

I think Meredith McIver, if she exists, was thrown under the bus to save Melania. I do think Melania wrote the speech herself, as she first claimed. No professional speech writer would make such a boo boo.

I was just surprised to see that the similarity really was as minimal as Republicans were saying. I'm not at all denying those similarities exist, but they're right that 90% of the speech was totally different.

I'd seriously been thinking it had to be some kind of purposely joke the Trumps were playing on the country, but I think Melania just didn't know what she was doing.
