All the Bronte sisters seem to have had a combination of strong passions and intense frustrations with their life circumstances. I can see how it would be extremely frustrating to grow up an intelligent, opinionated woman at that time without money, family position, or great beauty. Becoming a governess was basically the only option for them, similar to the young women who became schoolteachers in 19th century rural America.

I do believe in telepathy, and things like that, so that part isn't shocking to me. I've experienced that kind of thing at times.
