Feeling the burn

Despite having had a mondo migraine for the past 5 days, I am feeling better... about Burning Man

Last week the reality of actually going to Burning Man kicked in... and with that came a wave of anxiety about life on the playa. With my minimal amount of camping experience and my wealth of experience at not doing well in the heat I didn't think I was going to make it through Day 1 on the playa... much less Day 8.

But like all my anxieties, I knew I had to get over this. So I read and researched and talked to burners. I can honestly say, this processes made me more nervous about going at first, but then I sat down with my Burning Man packing list and got to work

I gave our original packing list a complete overhaul adding new items based on new information I'd gained. I now feel a Lot better about this trip. The list is more complete and takes into account things I didn't even think about... like getting playa dust in your sinuses or running into car trouble on the way to and from the playa.

Learning about other people's experiences at Burning Man has gotten me more mentally prepared too. A few days ago a guy asked me if I was starting to get 'the feeling'... being a virgin I can't quite be sure what feeling he's talking about exactly... but after thinking about what contributions I would be bringing the community I think I'm starting to get an idea of what The Feeling is.

I can honestly say now that I'm excited.
I want to see the art... the people... this gifting community build and destroy itself over the course of a week... but mostly I guess I just want to see me finally being apart of Burning Man.

For those who want to check out what I will be bringing:
