I have not heard from you in some time and so, because I am a foolish old woman, I have begun to worry. I hope that the reason for your silence is a joyous one and that you are too busy enjoying the beauties of Paris and your Mariette. I received your sketch of her and she is indeed most beautiful, although you flatter me much too much to suggest that she resembles me. Please do not interrupt your work for too long, but please do write me back to reassure me that all is well with you.
