Title: Was it an Accident?
Rating: G, or PG for adult themes
Summary: Arthur ponders his relationship with Merlin
Author's Note: This is the first poem I've written in a long time, and the first ever for a specific fandom. I'm not great at free verse poetry, but I do have the urge every once in a while. This was inspired by... not much, really. Just the need to create, and the right words floating around my brain at the right time. I apologize for the shitty rhyme scheme in advance.
Was it an accident? Chance
Is it fate? Destiny
Will it end? Never
You’re keeping him forever
He wasn’t the first, or the best
Yet there’s something, somewhere
Hidden
Among gangly limbs, a goofy smile
And dark unruly hair
It’s a secret, forbidden, forever masked
Obligations
You were stuck with him, forced together
But somewhere along the way
His faults, transgressions
They all gave way
Gangly limbs became graceful,
Pale skin set aglow
Shining eyes and full pink lips
There was so much more to know
Friendship, trust, love
He’s the first face when you rise,
And the last when you fall
He’s there when you’re hurt,
And when you’re happy
He know what to say
When you’ve said nothing at all
It wasn’t chance, it’s destiny
It won’t end, really, not never
You’re keeping him ‘round forever
