Art and blurb--update!

Apr 29, 2013 11:56

I can't even wait! I signed on to the computer today to find this in my email:

Eeeeeeeeee!!! It's still not quite finished. Jesse is doing a little more polish work here and there, especially to Linhare, my heroine. I am beyond thrilled. I say it every time, but this is my favorite cover yet!

To go with that is my new, refined blurb; still not positive it's done but today seems to be an evolution of art day, so...
Truth cannot remain entombed forever. Only long enough...

Returning to the Vale after six years at university, Linhare is thrust into the long-standing grudges and precarious alliances that maintain her realm. But there is more to this balance of peace and prosperity than political intrigue. Ambition. Secrets. And a terrible deed, glossed over by history--a deed, recorded in a scarred, red journal, that should have remained forever secret.

Wait's secret.

Dakhonne warrior and living legend, Wait has been a shadow guarding Linhare all her life. Unearthing his past was an accident; keeping it to herself was not. As she wrestles with her duty to him and the need to discover all, the journal goes missing, heralding a spiral of betrayal and dark magic that casts Linhare from Vales Gate. She tumbles headlong into a world of bolleys and Drumbul Lords, of gobbets and ghasty-haints, where Everwanderers sail upon their unnatural ship--until Wait falls into fae to pursue her, bringing with him hope, love, and more truth than she can bear.

(peadarog, I know you hate the repetition of secret there! It ended up back in.)

I'm not in love with the punctuation, but I'm happier with this version than I was with Friday's. I have a few more days to tweak at it, but for now, huzzah!

And, of course, it is Monday, so it's Heroines of Fantasy link day! Quite appropriate, being that my post concerns my cover art--another of our stellar artists is up over on Heroines of Fantasy. Tom Vandenberg shares the evolution of the artwork that became the cover of The Poets of Pevana, by Mark Nelson. Tom is in the process of three other covers for HRB upcoming novels: Mark's second book: King's Gambit; Shauna Roberts': Ice Magic, Fire Magic; and Karin Gastreich's: High Maga. (All of which I edited!)
