The Apparition of Yuki Nagato
[Yuki wakes up.
. . . No. This is incorrect. The reason she is in her bed in pajamas she has never worn before in a room that is beginning to register as vaguely familiar . . . Ah. Yes. That is the only logical explanation. She has been allowed to return home to progress through a series of events that impacted her Development as a Sentient Being. As she has seen happen with so many others. Perhaps it is unsettling to think of it in this manner, but Yuki has no other explanation for why some are allowed to return home only to be brought back so quickly. As for herself . . . She pauses in that thought. The idea of the individual has never been allowed to maintain significance in her program functions outside of Mayfield. Yet that has changed. The Integrated Data Sentient Entity desires her erasure. This would disagree with her. Thus . . . individuality.
Her Development has been significant.
Were she more capable of understanding, she would recognize that the primary error running through her circuitry at this moment is not anger or unhappiness or annoyance . . . but rather, gratitude. Yes. She is grateful.
Stiffly standing up, she walks swiftly to the desk in the corner and examines it for the data she keeps in written from. . . . All present.]
1. [On the way to school in the morning, if you're a teacher or a student, Yuki will pause. Stare at you for a moment. Then move on. She does not appear to have any interest in conversation.]
2. [It is early afternoon, when school has just let out. In school and out of school, drone girls and boys will approach Yuki and cheerfully inquire about the Literature Club. All they will receive in turn are stares. Alternatively, Yuki is standing in the middle of the hall or the street staring at a stack of papers with signatures on the topmost sheet. Perhaps you will remember signing it.]
3. [It is night and Yuki is standing silently in the park, watching the snow falling gently from the sky. All seems normal, for Yuki Nagato. ....... Those who approach especially close, however, may hear something odd. Is Yuki . . . mouthing something to herself?
