Argh, just finished crawling through acres of broken glass to re-enter the land of the living. Yep, summer school is over, initiating a hard won respite until September. Ive never before focused my energy on academic courses, and have learned an important lesson that ultimately its not for me - especially not in the condensed, force fed format of the summer class.
The classes were diverse and informative, including a focused study of printmaking, an introduction to semiotics, and a broad though well presented history of material culture. Its true that i've learned a lot, and have always wanted an opportunity to peruse these subjects but its obvious to me now that its not what i returned to school for. Be that as it may, the worst s over now, I have only three more academic classes to go spread out through the next two years. I think ill be able to handle it.
Though i had plans to travel, I have once again decided to postpone them so i can work, and put aside some cash for my studies abroad. Sadly a month is not enough, so i've opted for rest and relaxation. Also, i have a chance to put together a pitch for a published book of lino cuts (very exiting, i assure you). I may be able to visit NYC again & go to Halifax in the fall, and though its not BC it will have to do.
Ive been keeping an analog journal/sketchbook, & may well post some of it here to make up for my pitiful output in the last few months.
