cue ramble about Karofsky, Kurtofsky and Klaine

I want to see Karofsky redeemed, but I don’t want him and Kurt to get together. I’m a Klaine shipper, first and foremost, because Kurt and Blaine are good for each other. Blaine makes Kurt smile; Kurt can teach Blaine so much about being true to himself. Blaine is the first character on Glee that I’ve ever identified with quite so strongly, and I want to see him grow-and I think Kurt is the one that will help him to grow. At the same time, I think Blaine can teach Kurt a lot about how to fit in, about how fitting in doesn’t necessarily mean losing one’s self of identity. Along this vein of thought, I also think that Dalton will be good for Kurt-he needs to learn that, even in places where there’s zero-tolerance anti-discrimination policies, everything isn’t going to be sunshine and roses. He can’t just waltz into another Glee club and think he can start calling the shots. It’s about hierarchy and earning the chance to speak up and take the solos, and I think that that is an important lesson that Kurt really needs to learn.

I also want to see Karofsky redeemed. I want to see him become a stronger person than this scared little boy who pushes other kids into lockers. I want him to be a character people can look up to, one who might encourage more people to be honest with who they are.

But the idea of Kurt ever returning Karofsky’s feelings makes me feel a little ill, tbh. I’ve been bullied and the idea of then dating somebody who hurled abuse at me? No. Just no. That’s not the basis of any stable relationship. Sure, maybe Karofsky becomes a “good” person and then Kurt is interested in him, but I still can’t get over the fact that this guy threatened to kill Kurt. He sexually harassed and tormented him-that sort of thing can’t just get glossed over. I’d love to see him get a boyfriend, just not Kurt.

/tl;dr ramble

meta (sort of), kurtofsky & karofsky, glee, in which i actually do some thinking, klaine, ship wars, theories
