Well this follow-up entry took a lil longer than expected, but subbing was really fun last week. Tuesday I went into CHS, but the lady in the office decided since it was my first time not to throw me to the wolves down in Auto's, and so I was given Mr. Thomas's US History 1 classes.
Hung out on hall-duty first period and then listening to music in the 4th floor lounge during my prep period. Then I had a few US1 (honors and standard) classes and one study, with most everyone I know who goes to the high school in some class or another...at least any younger siblings of ppl I know. Josh, Andrew Fassler, Jake, Kristen, the md, Maura, and even Lisa Kardos' little brother, who recognized me somehow! But mostly I just read The Bell Jar and gave the kids busy work to do. Lunch was fun though since I was able to eat in the Teachers's Cafeteria. It wasn't too impressive, but an accomplishment nonetheless.
Wednesday I fixed some guy's computer, went for a nice bike ride, hung out with Sara and a little and helped her eat some of her delicious cranberry and orange scones, and then went to yoga. We'll have to start riding our bikes to yoga since the weather's been so nice.
Thursday I went into the city and saw Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at the
Ziegfeld
in NY with Ian, Girma, and Girma's friend. Unfortunately Chris and his sister didn't come...woulda been nice to see them. I enjoyed the movie a lot, though felt a lot of the dialogue was kinda weak, even compared to Eps 1 and 2.
Friday I subbed at OAS in the afternoon for a 4th grade class. And let me tell you, 4th grade is far more fun to sub. You actually teach them with the lesson plans left for you instead of just throwing work at them. We colored boots with each kid's name on them to represent being "booted out of 4th grade". Then, as many of the girls reminded me, I gave a spelling test, and then everyone worked on a lil 2 minute presentation about how they would transform an object you'd otherwise throw away and make it into something useful to reuse it. Most of the kids had decent answers like using a soda bottle to plant a flower in, but a few of the boys didn't get it or wanted to be weird and say things such as using a dead body as a punching bag. It was fun, and then I hung out with Sara and made carrot muffins. Then hung out with Ariel and the md for a while and watched some Rocko's Modern Life, which is even better now.
Yesterday Bob and I visited Sara at Dunkin Donuts and got free, but somewhat poorly made coffee drinks, not that we didn't appreciate them. Then later, Sara and I went for a bike ride and hung out. Ate some food and then came back here to eat more food in the form of pizza and watch Alias. Today I had meant to go to Kim's graduation party, but got distracted and then it reached the point where it was far too late to show up and not be weird...so, regretfully, I was unable to attend...sorry Kim! Had really yummy veggie lasagna for dinner and then played Hearts with my parents before they made strawberry shortcake for dessert. We watched last week's Lost finally and now I'm really excited for the finale next week.
