My oldest daughter is house/dog sitting while friends take the weekend to go to Maidens. She's spent a week at there place before and it wasn't going to be a big deal. Until 4 am this morning that is.
Our phone rang and when Geordon answered it was Tori, a little freaked out. There was an alarm going off at their house and she couldn't figure out where it came from. It beeped and then stopped. Geordon got dressed and went over to find it, he tested the smoke alarm in the hall but she said that it wasn't the same beep. Everything looked fine and da hubby came home. Shortly after Tori called again saying the alarm had gone off a second time, she still couldn't tell where it was coming from, in addition she was starting to get a headache. At this point we were a little worried about carbon monoxide. Geordon called our friends at their hotel and tried to get help locating where the alarm could be coming from. We took a step ladder to try and get to the only possible source we hadn't checked and went back over.
Yay step ladder! Tori said that that smoke alarm sounded like what she had been hearing, G puled the battery and licked it! Ewwwww!! Anyhow, he decided that it was dead so I drove over to the market and bought some batteries. We popped them into the smoke detectors and then hung out with Tori and the dogs for awhile until we decided that it was safe and we could go home. At this point it was 6:30 so we went and grabbed the kids some breakfast and a decaf latte for ourselves. I craawled a little bleary eyed back into bed and tried to catch a little more sleep.
I was supposed have today off, however it turns out that I'm going to pick up half a shift for Lissy later on. What's that they say about the best laid plans?
