safe from harm

Can I say something about pedophiles? It's not backed by actual evidence or anything, but can I say it anyway? Pedophiles happen to be attracted to children. They don't choose to be. It may be that they were abused in their childhood, or maybe it's just a naturally occurring phenomenon.

I think it's pathetic that the case of whether pedophilia is disgusting or not is left to the moral majority, who have no interest in trying to relate to what it's like to have overt sexual feelings towards kids. Do you personally think that pedophiles' attraction to children is experienced as completely uncomplicated by them themselves? I believe that pedophilia is the new homosexuality. The fact that we're not talking about consenting adults complicates the issue and I won't be able to offer answers at this point. But the ones disgusted by attraction to children today should consider the attitudes of some people, presently and in the past, towards homosexuality.

As for predatory pedophiles and the exploitation of children: does anyone believe that labeling people perverted monsters does anything to solve the problem? Might there be a problem in refusing to discuss the problem and shunning these people? Pedophiles are left with very few ways to relate to themselves.

The standard way of considering pedophilia makes problems greater than they need to be and hurts both children and adults. Everyone'd better stop it.
