Went to the doctor today for my 36 week check up. Nothing interesting to report, which is good; everything looks fine. Got an ultrasound but no pictures to give because the kid is too big! (Not bigger than normal, just too big at this point.) We did see this though--> 0
That was the head. Which means she's dropped! She's ready to go! People told me my belly would drastically change shape when that happened, but it still looks the same to me. She checked to see if my cervix was doing anything but it's still the same, so I'm not in labor yet. That wasn't a pleasant experience but it'll be cake compared to giving birth so I got over it really fast.
She also, and this sucked, did this test for something that doesn't affect the mother, but could affect the baby during the birth. The test is done by taking a swab of the vagina and, OH BOY, your asshole. And they can't lube it up or anything. She just shoved that thing in there with no real warning past the mention of the test needing to be done a few minutes prior. Pretty smart. My poor butthole wasn't happy.
After that, we ran a ton of errands, Evan finished the crib, a bookshelf, and a dresser was done a week ago. The changing table is set to arrive tomorrow, sheets are on the crib, diapers and wipes are read to go, and we've got enough clothes for 3 kids (I got excited and found a bunch of stuff on clearance at Target), we have a swing, and the bassinet should be here on Thursday. We just need the kid! Oh yeah, the stroller. I can't wait to use the stroller!
I've got some photos from the baby shower, but I'm too tired to get them. I do have
a totally pointless video of us just hanging out while my brother and Evan hung the lanterns for me. It doesn't even show the lanterns very well. No matter. My cousin's patio is bigger than ours. They'll look better at our place.
And that's about it.
