Background Info:
History: Joan of Arc @ wikipedia and Ruler (Saber) @ the TYPE-MOON wiki
Personality: There's a good reason why Joan of Arc's legend has become as popular as it has--not only were the feats she did incredible, but the woman behind it all had a remarkable personality. A mere peasant girl who answered her call to God, Joan is the perfect example of the ordinary becoming extraordinary.

Despite her humble origins, Joan had a clear stubborn streak and is full of endless surprises. After seeing the vision in which she was more or less told to take charge of France's army and lead them to victory, she attempted to gain permission to visit the French Royal Court. Of course, she was initially denied, but she once again returned after managing to gain support. Even after being accepted by the Royal Court, she was initially excluded from many of the war council meetings and wasn't even informed of when battles had been engaged. However, neither of those prevented her from being present at most meetings or from being on the battlefield herself.

Joan was a bold and determined woman. There were many battles in which she had previously been wounded--for example, having been wounded in the neck by an arrow or having a injury in the leg from a crossbow bolt--but still continued to fight on the battlefield along with the soldiers. She rejected the more cautious strategies that had been used by the previous commanders in favor of more aggressive, perhaps downright insane tactics. With only a single captain as her aid, she stormed the fortress of Saint Augustins and captured it. While there were times where her visions supposedly led her to giving accurate predictions regarding battles, many came from her own strategies and thinking. Even after being captured, she refused to give up easily and quietly. She once made a seventy foot jump from a tower in an attempt to escape.

Even with her position and clear influence, Joan of Arc was not a feminist. What she believed was that given the divine calling, anyone could step up to become incredible. She turned away women who attempted to join the army, absolutely refusing them to take up arms as well. Despite her divine calling, Joan understood that she was a woman doing a man's job and so dressed the part; regular women had no place in that. Regardless, she welcomed help from women in many other ways, from donations to notable women of stature defending her virginity.

Although she grew up as no more than an illiterate farm girl, the girl definitely had a sharp wit. She knew how to impress royalty and was very much aware of her status as a woman. Along with dressing as a man because she was doing a man's job, she also did so to deter molestation and rape. After all, it wouldn't really do to have her own soldiers thinking of her as a sex object. During her interrogation after being captured, she continued to show a remarkable display of wit, so much so that her subtle yet stupefying replies made the court stop holding the interrogation in public. While she was most certainly a symbol of morale for the soldiers, it's also undeniable that she was the reason for a series of successful campaigns in driving out the English; her role as a tactician and strategist was clear.

As a Servant, not much about any part of her has changed. Being the administrator to the Holy Grail War she partakes in, she upholds the rules and values order, much like she did in her life. At first glance she seems like a reserved, taciturn, and even somewhat distant kind of girl. For the sake of the role she has been tasked with, she will do as she must. However, despite her legendary life and continued existence as a Servant, there remains one thing that none of those has affected--she remains, at heart, a simple teenage girl. For most of her life she lived as a plain and quiet peasant girl, and while she will wield her sword for the sake of rules and order, she is also a compassionate young woman, if not a bit plain. Despite her position as administrator and upholder of the rules, she firmly believes that all those participating in the Holy Grail War, both the Masters and the Heroic Spirits, are equally important.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Justice
Justification: As a Servant that was summoned by the Holy Grail itself to act as an administrator, it's natural to think that Joan must act as a sort of judge, and seeing as how Justice rather than Judgement represents judgement, it's a good fit. In order to put the rules first, she must also be someone with a good sense of morality and whatnot. However, she is also someone who believes that each Servant and Master participating in the Holy Grail War are important--all of them, thus indicating that she is a fair administrator who holds no bias towards one party or another.

Samples:
First Person Sample: This device never ceases to amaze me... [Hello Prospero, don't mind what sounds like a young girl fumbling with the cell phone. Technology is kind of neat okok.... BUT ANYWAYS, for a little while it's just audio until there's a final click and it switches to video. The girl blinks at the camera, seemingly taking a while to understand what's going on.]

Oh, this is... right, yes, of course! This must be a video. I suppose it's only natural to assume that others will see this. In that case-- [brb seriousing the fuck up] Good afternoon, mademoiselles and messieurs. I apologize for the disturbance, but if I may ask for someone's time I am afraid I have a few questions to ask. Though I currently know of no way to repay such kindness if given to me, I assure you I will find a way. Thank you, and farewell until then.

[She's a bit sloppy with turning off the cellphone though, and a tiny sigh escapes before she manages to shut it off.] And to think I was finally done with my duties...
Third Person Sample: Quite frankly, there were an endless number of things that were bothering her--being summoned somehow yet again, the completely human body, the fact that she was not the only one supposedly "kidnapped". Even after being informed of the situation, Ruler was mostly concerned with the others. This city was one filled with apparent danger, and what of those who were unable to defend themselves properly? Those who had actual homes and lives to return to? She may have not been a Servant anymore in the physical sense, but she was very well aware of the fact that with her Holy Grail War done, she had nothing left to do. There was no sadness at this fact though, only a sort of sense of resignation; all things considered, it was fine if she was summoned here because she had no other role.

And to be honest... from what she could gather, the city was a fine one during the day. It had been so long since she had been able to walk around the streets of a town, to simply enjoy the day for what it was. She had not a single regret about her life, save for being unable to protect her country even longer, and did not regret becoming a Servant either. However, she also could not deny that there were times where she wished where she could--what was the phrase? "take a break"?--relax from her duties and be a simple girl once again. Perhaps in this place she could, dangerous though it was.

"... the moon is rising." A beautiful night sky to some, Ruler could not help but feel unease as she watched the moon rise higher and higher. It wouldn't be long until the supposed "Dark Hour," and with her abilities somewhat diminished, her concern could only grow. (At least, she would have liked to have been properly equipped; a metal pipe was certainly no replacement for a sword.)

Testing the pipe's weight in her hands, a small smile spread across her face. "And out of all the weapons I have ever held, I must admit to still preferring my standard."

But this was no place to wave a flag for morale and pride, and until she knew of her enemies' strength, Ruler could not afford to let her guard down. It was reassuring to know that she was still as skilled with a blade as ever, but for now she continued to bide her time until the Dark Hour, waiting for the shadows to come alive.
