"Oh God." Luca hiccupped. He had been hiccupping almost non stop for the last two hours. "I'm never going to -hic- be able to stop. I will never SLEEP AGAIN!" He ran his hands back through his dark curly hair. He pulled on it.
"When was the last time you saw a white horse?" Gideon asked.
"What? I dunno. Can't you see I'm dying here?" Luca said with a pathetic look on his face. "Besides -hic- why do you care?"
"I'm taking a survey. Just humor me. When was the last time that you saw a white horse?" Gideon asked again.
"Uhm. In real life or just -hic- on TV?"
"In real life."
Luca sat back and pondered. When was the last time that he'd been anywhere outside that would have had horses? He chewed his lip. "Well... I think I went to a fair... years ago with my friends from high school. My dad never would take us to fairs because he didn't like the way the animal smelled and it used to drive him nuts that I would ask and ask and ask for a bunny."
"White horses?" Gideon prompted.
"Let's see..." Luca sighed. "Okay. I can remember seeing one at a fair back in high school. Well it had spots on it I think. Does that count?"
"Maybe. Can you think of one that was all white?"
Luca looked up. "Well I did see one at a pony ride when I was a lot younger. So maybe that was it. Good enough?"
"Yeah. Cool." Gideon said.
"What was that all about?"
"Are your hiccups gone?" Gideon asked.
Luca paused. He waited. And waited some more. "Holy crap! YES! They're gone! That's amazing!"
Gideon smiled. "You're welcome. Sadly it only works once. But at least it worked, right?"
