[Background] Naoto was born into a family famous for producing excellent detectives. She has always held great respect for the profession, intending to enter it herself; however, when she was fairly young, her parents were both killed on an investigation, and she began to live with her grandfather instead. Her main influences growing up were detective novels, in which she admired the hard-boiled protagonists. She aspired to be like them, but she felt that she could never attain that image as a female, so she began to dress, act, and speak like a male.

She began her detective work in her early teens, quickly earning a name for herself as the “Detective Prince”, living up to the Shirogane name; however, she was somewhat frustrating to the police departments in which she worked for her workaholic nature and tendency to work alone, her efforts toward finding the truth seen as attempts to upstage the adults, breeding jealousy. She continued her work nonetheless, and was eventually transferred to Inaba to work on a serial murder case. She figured out that Kanji would be a victim before he was attacked, but was unable to prevent him from being kidnapped. Nonetheless, she made more progress than the police in a very brief amount of time.

Later, she enrolled into Yasogami High School, where she immediately became popular with girls due to her boyish charm, but almost as immediately pushed them away with her blunt nature. Soon after, she confronted the Investigation Team on their dealings with the case, telling them that they are just playing a game. When Rise replied that it was just a game to Naoto, she accepted that fact, pondering the sadness in that detectives are shoved from one case to another, never getting the chance to treat a case as more than a game.

Despite the arrest of Mitsuo who claimed to be the culprit, Naoto was unconvinced, finding several fallacies in his testimony and circumstance. She decided to test her theory on the way the victims were chosen, and through making herself well-known throughout Inaba on TV, she was thrown into the TV. There she found herself in the world created by her own mind, with only her sobbing Shadow for company.

When the Investigation Team arrived to rescue her, she seemed merely annoyed by the Shadow, telling the Investigation Team that it was about time. However, when her Shadow began to confront her with her inner self, she quickly became flustered and angry, as most victims of their inner selves do; as well, the Investigation Team learned that Naoto was a girl. However, once the Shadow was dispatched by the team, Naoto revealed her feelings to them, confronting her inner self. Her Shadow transformed into her Persona, Sukuna-Hikona, and after a period of recovery due to the TV world’s illness-inducing effects, she joined the Investigation Team, proving a valuable member due to both her skill in combat and as a brilliant thinker.

After a series of adventures including but not limited to a beauty pageant, the death of a friend, getting very close to Souji and awakening Yamato-Takeru, her ultimate Persona, and nearly killing the wrong suspect, the Investigation Team confronted and defeated both Adachi, the killer, and Ameno-sagiri, the entity attempting to fulfill mankind’s wishes by releasing them from their pain through death. Inaba was saved!

However, the adventure wasn’t over quite yet. A few months later, a new question surfaced with a letter from Adachi raising his suspicions that there was a higher power at work. Souji found Izanami, the true perpetrator. In their confrontation with her, Souji used the Orb of Truth to reveal her true form, Izanami-no-Okami. However, this form proved too powerful, sending the entire party to the underworld, finishing with Souji. However, the power of Souji’s bonds restored him and transformed Izanagi into Izanagi-no-Okami, allowing him to use the power of Myriad Truths to defeat her, ending the ordeal once and for all, turning the TV world into the pristine landscape truly representative of the human heart.

The next day, Naoto and the rest of the Investigation Team said goodbye to Souji as he left on the train to return to the city. Naoto got to bed early that night, worn out from the emotional distress.
[Personality] Naoto is, first and foremost, a detective. Her mind doesn’t work quite like an average human being’s. Everything is a logical problem, and therefore everything has a logical solution; that’s the way things should be. This makes her a brilliant asset when there’s a logical issue to be addressed, but obviously, it can make her quite difficult to deal with for people who are overly emotional or dislike big words.

Naturally, her dependence on logic has made her somewhat unresponsive to the emotions of others. While she does have a certain modicum of skill in dealing with the emotions of criminals, being experienced in linking them to their motives, she has difficulties applying this to her everyday life. She is often exceedingly stoic in her dealings with others; she may travel off into her own thoughts if something more interesting than the person she’s talking to piques her interest, and at times she can be downright insensitive, saying that Kanji can’t accomplish anything alone right in front of him and expressing her wonder that Chie was thinking.

Most of all though, Naoto has trouble with her own emotions. Keeping with the theme of the source material, while she has been forced to confront her darkest inner feelings all at once, she still struggles, as her inner self does not change simply because she accepts it as a part of her. While she has become a lot more comfortable with herself around the Investigation Team, she still has trouble presenting her true self in public, and still tangles with her less desirable aspects just like anyone else.

If you want to see the full extent of her reserved nature, bring up her gender. Since she was fairly young, she has posed as a male, thinking that she could not live up to the image of her idols in detective fiction as a female. Added to the dismissal she received due to being a “child”, such a thing would be unbearable. Though she chose to mask her gender from the public eye for a long time, she decided to let it be known in Inaba that she was indeed a female after her ordeal in the TV world. She’s still really nervous about it though; talking about it in private is bad enough, talking about it in public is torture, as is anything to do with swimsuits, her bust size, or her silky smooth hair and complexion. Just… no.

While Naoto chose to follow in the footsteps of her family as a detective, it’s not her lineage that truly inspires her, but the desire for truth. In her regular detective work, it’s not her job to judge a crime or dole out punishment, only to find the truth. If the situation calls for it (see: Adachi), she will take action, but she feels that her efforts are best spent searching for truth rather than taking on responsibilities best left to those appointed to the appropriate positions.
[Specialties/Abilities] Naoto’s greatest ability is her brainpower and detective training, if you ask her. However, her persona, Yamato-Takeru, is well-rounded, being able to use physical, light, darkness, and Almighty-based skills. She’s an excellent shot with a gun, a master breast-binder, a skilled mechanic, and a remarkable inventor, capable of creating various gadgets to aid her in her detective work.

[Affection] You can do pretty much anything you like to Naoto affection-wise, but your survival isn't guaranteed, depending on how quickly she can compose herself. She's highly unlikely to display any affection to anyone else.
[Fighting] You can hurt Naoto if you like; she's used to getting beat up by Shadows. She's a pretty tough cookie, but she might not do so well without someone to heal her. As well, she has access to instant-kill skills and a badass gun, so you might want to watch yourself. She's not likely to start fights on her own unless she has to.

[Other Facts] APP P4! I'd love to see any of the characters! :D
