Me baby, ME.
Thats right, today I thwarted a purse snatcher while at work.
I was working in a building with one of my co-workers at 550 Harrison, its on the other side of 81 from the Hospital. When we were finished, we had to go to UHCC (University Health Care Center), which was kinda behind Harrison and off to the side. So we decided to take the back door and cut across the rear parking lot. As we exited and turned the corner we saw a middle aged man running after a young black girl. When the guy saw us he started yelling, "Stop her she stole my Mom's purse"!!!! So the girl was getting closer and we were just kinda standing there, dumbfounded, not sure what to think. As she was passing us I stuck out my left hand and kinda grabbed her arm but then let her go since I wasn't sure if I wanted to get involved since there is a psych ward near by and didn't know what to do. The guy kept yelling. "grab her, grab her!!!!!" so I said fuck it, turned around, chased her and grabbed the back of her shirt. She stopped and tossed the purse about 3 feet in front of her in some grass. She then started to claim she never had the purse, which was amusing since it was laying in front of her. The guy caught up, thanked me, and told the girl "You messed with the wrong person, I'm a Sheriff for Jefferson County." So he did a citizens arrest, since he was off duty, and we waited for the police. They arrived, cuffed her and they took my statement.
Now here's the kicker. When the police asked her why she stole the purse, she said that earlier in the day someone stole her purse and didn't want to go home without one so she wouldn't get yelled at by her mom. SHE STOLE SO SHE WOULDN'T GET IN TROUBLE. Yea, great idea.
