Another milestone has been reached. I'm just back from having my port removed. It feels funny but I will get used to not having it very quickly, I think.
When I had the port put in the surgeon told me that it would be removed in his private surgery. He has since moved his office to a private hospital so today I actually had to go into theatre. The op lasted 10 minutes and I only had a local. No general was needed. In the theatre there were 4 people - wasting resources to me.
Anyway, it's done. I can't drive for 24 hours and I have to be careful showering as I can't get the wound wet.
I see my surgeon again on Saturday.
