So I know many of you are probably going to disagree with me on this, but I really don’t have an appreciation for protestors. Not that I challenge their right to protest, but it certainly doesn’t do anything to change my mind about issues. SO, here is a greater surprise. i tend to agree with you. i know when I was more involved in regular protests, they generally seemed to accomplish very little except to provoke conforntation.

However, this has made me generally despondant about my ability to influence the world around me. I have meaningful conversations with those around me, and that is great, but I feel like there ought to be some way to get through to the masses who generally DON'T think about politics and such regularly and, when they do, generally do so with little regard for consistency or cohernecy. How do I reach the mass of unthinking people and get them to think for just half a second?

And my realization last election cycle was that I don;t unless I am a sensationalist. This then sent me into a great depression. Rush and the people like him are much better sensationalists than I am and have much larger audiences. Against that, I tend to feel helpless. I can see why many turn to protests as an attempt to at least TRY and fight back against that sort of thing.
