Book rant
So, Felicia has been acquiring books from the library for me since I've been laming out on making time to go there myself. She's been picking up a variety of fantasy and sci-fi, and I've enjoyed much of it. However, today I started a book only to discover that it was the fourth fantasy book I've tried to read recently that opens with a scene of a very pregnant woman(sometime actually in labor) struggling alone through the (often snowy) wilderness.
Okay, there's not much actual rant here except to gripe that none of the books were very compelling to me for reasons not to do with the first scene, and to wish that they'd either written better, found a less-commonly used opening scene, or both.
