I'm knitting mittens for Maggie! I learned how to purl, which means I'll be able to try a lot of other patterns that are more complicated. Maggie picked out the yarn, which is a bulky brown with flecks of cream, rust, and green--it's very very cool-looking!

Hack called with a question for rainfletcher. I told him our news, and he was very congratulatory.

Maggie's starting to speak two-syllable words. Up til now, everything (except "Daddy") that was two syllables or longer was truncated: "care" for "carry," "saur" for "dinosaur," and so on. Now she's saying both syllables of some words, with a cute pause between. "Fing...er." "Emp...ty."
