I had my dad over a couple of weeks ago, coincidentally the day after the picture with the two bowls of rice was taken - so the second was standing in the fridge for that evening and he'd seen it when he fetched the milk for his coffee. Apparently, when he came home that evening, he told the mom that he was jealous of my food... it looked and smelled so delicious he spontaneously got hungry. *laughs* (Mom always cooks without using any herbs or spices - when they just got married she had doctor's orders to go saltless for a while, and she just never got back to using them - which wasn't a bad thing considering my dad's sensitive stomach.)
If you're a fan of France/French food, I think it'll be different to stay away from the garlic! It's not in every dish, but in a considerable amount nonetheless. Did he like the French kitchen, or just stick to the English one in his quest to avoid garlic?
Now that you mention it, I believe I remember that... they were helping with the harvest, weren't they? Ah, Honjani. You and your cracked out episodes... ♥
