A weekend of metal \m/

Thursday evening Kachan, the little brother and I went to PaganFest in Tilburg. :D
The first band (Deviance, in this case) started at 17.15, and since we arrived at 17.40 due to work and traffic we completely missed them. I don't know if we missed all that much, but thankfully there were five more bands to entertain us that evening. :)

The first was Eluveitie, and they were a really pleasant surprise. I'd only heard one or two of their songs thanks to a quick YouTube search, and what I heard then sounded okay. I'm glad they lived up to their promise in the real performance!
Tyr was, honestly, a bit of a disappointment. Ka and I both agreed that they were more a band you need to put on in the background, instead of on a stage with a whole load of metalheads. Pity.
Moonsorrow, the brother's main reason for coming, was fun. They brought the mood back up right away, and had a spirited show, including enthusiastic moshing. :D (Their final song was a shorty: Only twelve minutes long, instead of the 19 minutes that same song is on the CD!)
Then came Korpiklaani, and their entire gig gave me a humongous hillbilly feel. The way the two main artists (first guitar and vocalist) came on stage, clothing, and especially the violin/accordeon combo. They were fun, but their music was definitely of the "country for metalheads" variety. XD
Last was Ensiferum (and not Ensferium, as my mind sees to insist on reading it), and the entire band came on stage dressed only in kilt-ish gear, only white/blue like the Finnish flag. (Okay, the female keyboard player had a shirt. All the guys were bare-chested.) Mister main vocalist looked really, really good. There was much been appreciative ogling by the female part of the audience. The music wasn't bad, either. ;)

Tonight Kachan and I are going to see Mercenary in Eindhoven.
So far, we've seen them live... three times, I think? Or is this the third time? (Weert, Eindhoven... I can't remember any other times.)
They're smooshed inbetween three trash-metal bands, which isn't entirely my usual taste - but who knows, they might surprise me. :D

Stage times:
20.00 Extrema
20.45 Demolition
21.30 Mercenary
23.00 Death Angel

But, what the hey. Even if the others are no good, we'll still have an hour and a half of Mercenary! ♥
