Let's list what happened in the last half year, electronics-wise:
1. My mp3-player died and is now only usable as USB-stick
2. I bought a new external HD which almost died the day after - thankfully a new cable fixed it
3. My radio/CD/cassette-player (tower?) was unable to recognize and thus play CDs... and has been at the store for about two months now D:
4. The video recorder died a week or two ago. I'm planning on getting a new one this weekend
5. My computer monitor is slowly dying as well. At least, I'm getting green colours instead of reds in the corners, and it's spreading. D:
And today: the right window of my car is mechanical. I was about to drive home from work so I backed out of the parking spot - and noticed that I'd almost crashed against my manager's oncoming car. GAH. Thankfully he stopped in time. XD;
Anyway, I pushed the button to scroll down the window halfway to tell him I hadn't noticed him, whoops, and wish him a good weekend - and then the window refused to come up again.
Today was cold and windy, and it was drizzling. I am so glad I live close by and had a thick coat. ;o;
I went to the garage before going home, and after they managed to get the window closed (yay!), they told me that I'd have to bring it by again sometime next week, because something was wrong with the mechanism. I'd best refrain from using the window. (Not as if I was planning to go driving around with my windows open in this weather, anyway)
In conclusion: I seem to be a menace to electronics and mechanical devices.
AND YET, I WORK IN IT. (IT as in IT, not it. Oh, that makes it clear. XD)
It's a miracle my desktop at work hasn't spontaneously exploded! Well. There was that half an hour when the power went down in a ten-mile radius early december... but I had nothing to do with it, I promise!
In more positive news:
I have made an appointment at the bank see how big of a mortgage I could get when I go house-hunting. But being single, I doubt I can get all that much - houses are so damned expensive that it's almost impossible nowadays for a starter to get a house that's bigger than a matchbox.
I made another one to get a creditcard (for the Japan journey!), and this should make it easier for me to get stuff from CDJapan as well. :D
Also, my manager was very pleased with my work for the presentation last wednesday. It was in preparation for the course end of the month, and he was glad I was able to give them clear and concise information about what to expect. And I might be going on another course after I get back from Japane - this time probably to brush up on my German, since I'm going to be their main contact. (And to think German was my worst subject in school... XD)
wtf,
