I'm thinking about getting myself a clunky, incredibly old, cheapo PDA. One of the (supposedly) better flashcard-esque programs out there, Supermemo, only runs on a) Windows or b) PocketPC or PalmOS. If this were not the case, I could so totally put Lojban vocabulary onto my Mac and learn it the same way those cheesy (but apparently incredibly effective) language tapes teach it. The
Pimsleur method, I think? Yeah. (Obviously.) Also, if I could find one with one of those awesome folding keyboards (or even just a keypad), it could act as a notebook! (I keep falling in love with the idea of carrying around a notebook in which to record those random thoughts I treasure so, but then I never end up using it once it's there. Hmmmm.) I was thinking about that just now because, in addition to Lojban, I could use a PDA-thing for Lojban, Japanese, and the shiny new internet RPG I'm starting with the Miami people. Taking notes, developing concepts, etc etc etc whenever I have to wait for something or walk somewhere. HMM! So I think it'd be good. But I have no money. Hooray for Christmas!
