In Which The Author and Some Ice Have a Disagreement

I'd like to say that, although the folks on the Landscaping Crew are decent people, FUCK LANDSCAPING. I understand that they have hard jobs, especially in the winter when it snows and ices up, but that's no excuse for doing a shoddy job, especially when they were so fast to take care of things as soon as there was any snow or ice at all while the MFA folks were here. Long story short, I was riding to ceramics after work this morning, and while most of the roads on campus were clear, nobody had done a goddamn thing about the sheet of ice on the little road/driveway that leads down to the ceramics studio. I was going pretty slow because I'm cautious about riding when there's been ice, even if everything looks clear, but the black ice still sent my bike out from under me when I tried to turn towards the studio. I scraped up my knee, got a hole in my jeans, and did some minor damage to one glove, so I got off really easy, but it still hurts quite a bit, and I have a limp right now, partly from the pain associated with bending my knee and partly because I've got the wound wrapped up in an ace bandage which makes bending the knee more difficult.

Fuck em, bunch of half-assers.
