Shorter John Tierney:
Sure, there are fewer women in physics and engineering than in the biological and social sciences, but that's because women are biologically predisposed to enjoy interacting with people rather than inanimate objects! That's not sexist because it means women are well-rounded! Unconscious bias is a myth, and shortage of mentors is irrelevent! Here's a bunch of psychometrics advocates and conservative scholars who support my view! If we investigate science and engineering departments for non-existent evidence of discrimination, they'll start imposing quotas and that's bad for women! If we apply title IX to science, we'll have to close down departments that women aren't naturally interested in, and that's bad for everyone! Because obviously we'd have no real science if everyone were "well-rounded"!
