As you may be aware, I own a variety of Victorian-style vests, for use on special occasions. Gentleman's Emporium, my dealer, has rolled out some new ones, and restocked some old ones that I don't yet own. Here are some that I'm contemplating. Your thoughts?
Black Hills Vest
Most of my existing vests are essentially solid colors with subtle patterns. This one is higher contrast. The fact that the base color is black means it will go with any of my existing formalwear. I like the double-breasted cut (I own three other vests in this cut already).
Canvas Double-Breasted Vest in Wheat
I will very likely buy this one simply because I can wear it as everyday apparel. During the summer, on particularly hot days, I can wear it to work in lieu of my usual suit jacket. The material is durable and plain, and the color goes well with the rest of my regular wardrobe. This is one of only three vests that Gentleman's Emporium carries in this double-breasted shawl lapel style.
Lafayette Vest
This is an entirely new offering, in a cut that I've never owned. The pattern is very bold, and
more intricate than it looks from a distance. It draws attention. I think this would be a great one for tea parties and similar occasions.
Sedgwick Vest
This is one that has been perpetually out of stock in my size, and is finally available again. I already own two vests in this cut (one tone-on-tone black, one cream and gold), which serve the same purpose, and would reduce the frequency with which I wear any of them. This would be nice for receptions and other somewhat-formal evening events.
What are your thoughts?
To give some context, below are the vests from Gentleman's Emporium that I already own. The last two I'm not terribly fond of because the cut doesn't fit me particularly well.
