I'm really looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday (starting tonight for me). Last night I drove up to Maine to get Sarah. I left work at 3 PM, and traffic was OK until I was on I-295, between Freeport and Brunswick. Some road repair work was forcing the two lanes into one, and it was rush hour (yes, even in Maine). So that seemed to last forever. Good music on the radio, though. I found an oldies station playing the top 10 from this week in 1967. I can't remember all, or exactly what the order was, but they played "Soul Man" by Sam and Dave ("Play it, Steve..."), "It Must Be Him" by Vicki Carr, "Please Love Me Forever" by Bobby Vinton (which I cannot sing with a straight face...), "Say A Little Prayer" by Dionne Warwick.... #2 was "To Sir With Love" by Lulu, and #1 was "Incense and Peppermints" by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. I used to love that song.
I got to Gardiner around 6:35, picked up Sarah, had dinner at McDonald's, and then Sarah drove us back, getting home around 9:45. Had a good car ride with Sarah.
Becky and
Pete were there when we got home. Becky won't be with us for Thanksgiving (flying to Florida with her grandma), so I'm glad I got a chance to see her, and so did Sarah.
Gail gets the afternoon off today, so she and Sarah can catch up. Then we'll cook for tomorrow - mushroom turnover appetizers (yum!) and a pie. Maybe more stuff, I'm not sure. And Gail's cooking a stew for tonight, so that should be good.
Tomorrow we'll head over to Marina's for Thanksgiving. Good food and socializing with good friends. My kind of holiday.
