My corny post

Spain so far has been a blast. I am learning Spanish, hanging out with friends, making new friends, laughing at the drunk WMU kid, and discovering what living outside of the US is really like. I really truly recommend a study abroad experience for every student that is in college. There is so much of the world to see, so much beauty, yet most people barely ever leave their doorstep, or the doorstep of the hot tourist spots. By living somewhere you actually get to absorb their culture, find the good spots for local food (and american food), and find yourself. I know that this is a corny post, and I'm not saying I am really well versed or cultured, but so many people that go to college go in and get brainwashed by their professors and friends into thinking that the world is a single way. While there are definitely similarities between all spots of the world, everywhere is different, everywhere has its own vibe that can't be absorbed by visiting monuments. It might be cost prohibitive, but the experience will be worth every penny in loans that you need to take out. This has been a learning experience for me, as it has been for everybody that is here with me. One thing I have discovered is that some people have a much harder time with it that others. Some miss all their friends at home so much, that they aren't allowing them selves to make new friends. I know that this will be bad news for Grace, but I can definitely picture myself living here and working. Anyway, I have to meet Carly to do some homework, so I will talk to you all later.

PS: Go to the OIE (Office of International Education) and ask what study abroad opportunities you could do. They have them for nearly all majors, located all across the globe, and speaking all languages. Do yourself a favor and try something that you will never be able to do once you leave college and enter the real life.
